Why do I LOVE this Purist, Acupuncturist, Yoga Instructor and Founder of Pure Living Boutique? Well you can say it all started with a bladder infection... That is the worst part of this post, I promise you. I met Janet Meredith on Maui about 9 years ago while she was working in a shop on the Wailea Coast of Maui. We had an instant connection with each other. I found out she was an accomplished acupuncturist. She came to my hotel room that evening and gave me an acupuncture treatment. With her knowledge and love of serving people, I was quite quickly returned to my perky and pain free self! Janet has many passions and talents in life. She is a yoga instructor of 17 years, where she leads retreats all over world. She is the founder of Twisted Yoga an event and yoga retreat based business, in which she lead a retreat this year in Paris, France. She includes all facets of yumminess in her retreats: yoga, museums, retail therapy, food and wine tasting etc. Her retreats satisfy body, mind and spirit. Janet embodies healthy living and she looks incredible.... So I wanted to include her work here and share it with all of you. Janet is a self-professed 'Purist" and has been for over 35 years. I love pure products of every kind and wanted to introduce my audience to "The Art of Living Pure". As the founder of Pure Living Boutique, she has created relationships with artists who formulate and create each item from scratch, by hand in their studios and homes! Janet states: "The herbal based tonics and salves I sell are hand picked by true herbal allies who bless them and craft them according to the cycles of the moon." She supports independent artists who use organic, vegan, wild-crafted, eco-friendly ingredients and the products she carries do not have indefinite shelf life. They are fresh, pure and clean, as well as safe for the planet, pets, children, and people with compromised immune systems. Janet is a one woman show, aka, a Force Of Nature and she personally wraps each order with reused packing materials (beautifully, I might add) and walks to the post office to reduce her carbon footprint. She offers gift wrapping, as well as gift certificates. Her turn around is usually within 24-48 hours. If you would like to contact her, she even picks up her phone...novel idea. You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org, or go to her incredible website to view these true artisan products atwww.PureLivingBoutique.com. This woman is a true force for goodness, joy, beauty and purity.. I am honored to call her my friend. Check out her website and tell her I sent you.
Janet Meredith lives, breathes, walks, talks, and stretches everything she believes. She is the real deal: a multi talented health practitioner who loves helping her clients make a difference in their lives. She is a yoga teacher, acupuncturist, and Lifestyle Makeover Specialist.
Her Gift Raised in a traditional household with no emphasis on health, Janet changed her diet and began studies in many aspects of natural health from the moment she left home. The pivotal moment for her was probably during an appendicitis attack when she drove to the nearest acupuncturist instead of going to a hospital. She says,”I still have my appendix. I knew then that I had to go to acupuncture school.” So, she became an acupuncturist, studied western herbs, massage, shiatsu, feng shui, and yoga. From her dynamic background in the healing arts, she loves helping and supporting her students at their own pace.
Yoga Classes: Twisted Yoga Janet regularly teaches yoga classes every week in the Palm Beach, Florida area. Her lighthearted approach to yoga serves as the foundation for all her health work. She says, “My students want an experience. Life can be burdensome and heavy and serious. I make their yoga practice light so they can let go.”
She also offers specially themed yoga events like “Wine and Yoga” classes.
Lifestyle Makeovers: Simple, Easy, Fun! With each individual student, she calls on her talents and training. Lifestyle makeovers include a consultation on recipes for food, skincare and cleaning products and whatever the individual needs and wants in their comfort zone. She meets her clients where they are and helps them to gently change little things to start feeling better. Creating delicious recipes comes naturally to her and she loves showing her private clients how much better they can feel by making a few small changes. And when Janet says the sky is the limit in how she can help her clients, she really means it, even demonstrating personalized yoga routines on Skype.
Creativity Matters Janet has a background in jewelry design and photography and she touches everything she does with a creative, artistic flare. She makes it all special and fun. For example, she’ll make a green drink and then drink it out of a martini glass.
Janet’s Green Drink Recipe Citrus Base: juice of oranges or any citrus you have on hand (about 1/2 cup)
Chop up whatever green vegetables you have in the fridge (about 1/2 cup)
Optional: coconut oil (a tablespoon)
Mix in a blender. Pour into a fun glass and enjoy!
Favorites Janet appreciates organic produce from farmers markets or picked fresh in a garden.
Vegetable: “Kale — it’s a super food. I also love parsley.”
Fruit: “Whatever is organic in season. Right now my favorite is Canistel. I also love blueberries!”
Yoga Retreats With A Twist Janet has had vast experience giving retreats all over the world: Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, France and across mainland U.S.
She takes small groups to special locations for integrated retreats. For the second year, in April, she’s bringing a yoga group to southwestern France for a yoga retreat. They’ll be staying in the exquisite countryside. One day, a professional painter will teach a painting class so everyone will take home a painting. Another day, students will take a cookery course. They’ll also explore local villages with their farmers markets and artisans. And there will still be plenty of time for rest and for yoga. There may be one space left in that retreat.
An upcoming long weekend trip of yoga and hiking in southern Utah is in the works.
Ultimate Vision For Her Work Janet says, “Ultimately I accept people where they are so I can educate them and make a positive difference in their lives.”
